Must better connect “energy island” Iberian Peninsula with rest of Europe to reap benefits – Spain
Insufficient grid connections mean that Central Europe and Northern Europe cannot benefit from cheap, competitive solar power from the Iberian Peninsula, says Joan Groizard, Spain’s secretary of state for energy. Better interconnection with the rest of Europe would increase energy security for the whole continent and is a crucial precondition for making the most of increased energy trade with countries in North Africa in the future. Clean Energy Wire spoke with Groizard on the sidelines of the Future of Energy Security summit in London.
